My camp Highlights

Today was an interesting morning working on a reflection about camp. Today my reflection was based on my highlights of camp. My reflection shows my highlights of camp and some answered questions.
WALT: reflect on what we did at camp Raglan last week.
Camp Raglan was really fun and exciting I actually enjoyed it a lot and I think it would've been even more fun if everyone came but unfortunately some stayed. My camp experience was a fun one getting to spend time with my peers and build strong bonds. My favorite part was doing Air rifles because I found out I had good Accuracy.

Camp Sheild

Today I created a drawing of a shield and drew in patterns and stuff related to our camp journey. This is a photo of my shield and here is a description of my patterns and what they mean. 

The Spear
The spear is a symbol of strength. The spear represents the differences and different strengths everyone has and uses to help them accomplish challenges they face. It's also a sign of strength in helping you overcoming your fears.

The Big Heart
The big heart is a symbol of love and bond. The big heart Represents the strength of love and bond, The strong relationships and bonds that people build, Build relationships so strong they can't be broken. It also represents the value of relating to others because Together Everyone Achieves More.

The Two Hearts
The two hearts represent the strength of bonding. The strength in bonding comes from you, Try to make friends not only with people you know but others as well, Don't judge a person by there looks because you don't know who they really are inside.

Camp Before And After Life

Before and after life,Before and After camp.

Before camp I was someone who was not very active,wasnt very confident,couldnt communicate well with others and was scared of heights. Being at camp has really helped me change and become a better person, It has helped me reach my full potential. Camp has helped me increase my confidence,build up the courage to face my fears of heights. 
My life after camp is so much better now that I am confident, Have more friends, can work effectively with others, communicate well and can make strong bonds with anyone. During camp I was able to show my confidence through a performance piece I did with my friend Marcus, A group performance I did with three of my friends and through a little skit I did with my camp team, UNSTOPPABLE. 
At camp I showed TEAM by participating and contributing effectively with my team, using the value of Relating to others to accomplish our goal of achieving the camp vision Team. 
Overall camp has helped me change a lot with my attitude and confidence. My confidence level have boosted up a lot, Now I have more confidence in me and now I am able to be more open about things, Give my opinion when I think it is needed or I think something is wrong, techniqually I can participate and contribute effectively with others and show our camp value relating to others.

FIREWORKS FESTIVAL

I woke up to a cold breeze smashing against my face and the sun warming up my skin. Mum was yelling out, “Hope darling”, Hope darling ,It's time to wake up come on it's Guy Fawkes today”.

I quickly rush out of bed and get dressed before I go to have breakfast. I wash my face, Brush my hair and wash my hands then I go and sit at the table. “So mum?...” I asked,

“ What are we doing today?”,

“Well darling”  she replies while making breakfast,  

“We will go shopping, get some fireworks and then come home to get changed before we head out to Green Lake Park for the fireworks festival. We will have dinner there and have a look around”.

I finished my breakfast, did my dishes then headed for the bathroom to brush my teeth. While I was brushing my teeth I was wondering why mum was arranging for this special day.

“Darling it time to go.” mum yells from the bottom of the stairs.

We get in the car and away we go. Cruising down the streets passing other cars, the bright yellow sun fills the sky with light and the clear blue sky is as clear as the ocean. We arrive at K-mart and we do half an hours worth of shopping, as we walked past the fireworks station I saw a fireworks packet that contained Ground spinners, sparklers, firecrackers and smoke bombs.

“Can I have that firework pack please?”, I asked mum hoping that she will say yes.

“Alright take one off the shelf and carry it to the counter”.  

After paying for the my fireworks we went home.

CELEBRATING ME!

Basketball reflection #2

Today I went to kiwisport basketball,With 6 members of my class. We participated in lay up drills,shooting drills and had a 4 on 4 game. Our couch whose name is couch Malek taught us what a double dribble,travell and a carry is. He taught us the signs for fouls and 3 throws. I learnt today how to do a under the bridge off fence technique that helps you get closer to the hoop and score a good lay up. I think I did well in basketball with the way I participated and contributed and also with my teamwork effort. Next time I will try to get better and shooting and better my ball handling.

Niuean speech

Today I started up and introduction for a niuean speech I am preparing. This speech will be at least 3 minutes long or more. I hope that with my speech I will be able to become more confident when I am sharing in front of a large group of audience.

Today we had a school assembly where we had the school band play,certificates ETC.. During the assembly our new school P.E uniforms we shown and the man Chris swan from barfoot and thompson who donated $11.448 dollars to help us,came to the assembly so my friend and I wrote a thank you letter for him.

Reflection about the weekends

Saturday
On saturday the 15th of October I woke up at 6:30 in the morning and went over to my aunty and uncle's house to help them move furniture and stuff out of the house because they were moving houses. I went over to the house with my grandad and we had breakfast with them and then we started moving furniture.We went to order a trailer to move the heavy furniture from one house to the other,While the female were at home gardening. Half way through the moving and cleaning it started raining and our family kept working through the rain. When all the cleaning was done the sun shone upon us once again and we had a nice hot lunch. When aI arrived back home I saw that my friend Siale who live down the road from me and he was moving stuff into a container with his dad so I went and helped them out to. When I got home I had a shower had dinner then went to bed.

Sunday
On sunday my friends Joe and Willie came to my house at 10:00 am
and woke me up to play basketball. So I woke up got ready then we left down to the school. At the school we had three point contests,we played H.O.R.S.E and we played 1on1,on and offs.
Then we went to the shops to buy drinks and food before heading back to my house. At my house we ate the food and had drinks then starting playing basketball again. This time we had 1 on 1's,Dunking contests and had a water fight because of the hot weather that day. After all our fun we had dinner before getting ready for school the next day.

Fathers day

For inquiry this term we are learning about celebrations.
Today we did a task related to celebrations where we had to create a presentation about one celebration and then we had to answer some questions related to the topic you choose. Here is a presentation that I created alone showing the topic I picked and answers to the questions provided.

What did I learn
Today for basketball I learnt how to jump stop,Dribble and shoot.
I also learnt how to pass and crossover.
What did I do well
To I did well when I was dribbling,Shooting and passing. I got three pointers,3 throws.
What do I need to work on
I need to work on getting better then I am at dribbling and also on shooting more accurately and also on using my teammates more often.

What I think about tamaki

Today for during the middle block our class had a group discussion on how we can make our school a better place? and also on, what makes our school special?. We had to get into groups of four and discuss and brainstorm about the questions above. This is what my group and I came up with.

How can we make our school a better place?

• We can do this by getting new sports equipment,
• Helping out where help is needed,
• Demonstrating good behavior,
• Stopping the tagging,
• Respecting students and teachers
• learning from your mistakes.
• Keeping our school grounds tidy/clean,
• and no vandalising 

Our second question was What makes tamaki special?

• What makes tamaki special is the bond everyone has,
• The school values we show,
• The learning we do,
• The environment we have,
• The different cultures we celebrate,
• The differences we embrace,
• And the bond people have with each other.

I think our school is the best because people from different cultures build strong bonds with each other, respect is shown around and also because we have pride in everything we do. The main reason why I think our school is special is because our school was one of the first to use notebooks and I the main reason on how I think we can make our school a better place is by Stopping the tagging and vandalising that happens all the time.

Maths with miss Pine

Today for maths I did a collaborative maths session with 2 of my friends. For this task we had to put our minds into one and try to solve the problem but all get the same understanding in the end. One thing I learnt from this task is that when you are solving a variety of the same questions your strategy will be the same. The question I got was 8 bars to 5 children.

3 bars left over
divide the leftovers into 5ths
each child gets 1 whole and 3 fifths each.

One thing my team did was use teamwork,Contribution,worked together and everyone got involved.

Kiwican Reflection

WALT reflect on our Kiwi can session

Today for the last session of Kiwi Can we watched a movie called Wreck it Ralph. This movie was interesting because During the movie, you could easily notice some key information/facts. Well I was watching the movie I got the idea that one little thing as giving something to help someone else can make a you a hero to them. If you help someone else,they will help you in return. I also got a negative idea about peoples behaviour. Peoples behaviour and the way they act can affect others. Like in the movie the little girl Penelope was the main racer in the game but turbo the racer and his game was shut down,so he went turbo and took over other games and because of this he took over the game sugar rush and disconnected Penelope's code which made her glitch out. Overall I think that people should treat others the same and not like enemies.

Chinese Language Week-Research

Today for 2 hours my class and I did a task related to Chinese language week where we had to research facts about the Chinese culture then put them on a DLO. For this task we researched 9 facts about the Chinese culture and but them on a DLO. This is the DLO I created showing the facts I found.

Swimming leason

WALT Reflect on our swimming lesson 

Swimming Lesson
Today for swimming we did 6 lengths going up and down half of the pool,then we did 8 lengths going up and down the hole full length of the pool. doing the half pool lengths was a piece of cake easy to do, but when it came to the full length swimming my arms got tired way's faster and it became a little bit harder, but I kept going all the way to the end. I was good at Freestyle,Backstroke and the sting ray. Tomorrow I will try my best to do better than I did today and hopefully can put these skills to use.
I believe everyone should learn how to swim due to all people dying from drowning and from not being able to swim.

Author's Purpose

Too Much T.V

In my opinion I think the author's purpose in this reading text is that spending too much time watching T.V and playing video games could lead to you not wanting to read books,Play sports and even make you not want to spend time with your family. I think that the Authors trying to state that technology gadgets can make feel addicted to it and can make you think negatively towards doing anything else that doesn't involve gadgets.

Furthermore I think that the author is trying to tell us that it is not good to spend so much time watching T.V or playing video games because you never know what would happen, Your mindset could change, you could change the things you use to do like say for example: you used to play sports and use to be very active and now all because of these gadgets or technical devices you change your mindset and now think that what you used to do was nothing compared to what digital devices can provide you.

Overall I think the author is trying to say Don't spend to much time on digital devices or watching T.V because its not very helpful for your future.

Challenges of Hosting the Olympics - Reading Jigsaw

I am learning to define the different impacts rio has on the olympics.

Political impact

• Rounds of tense Protests have gripped brazil’s largest cities including Rio, as a result.
• Brazilians think Vice President Michel Temer was accused of murder for the  corruption scandal.
• The office of the brazilian presidency told world post that temer was focus on reducing the number of  government ministries  and had already expressed his commitment to appointing women to leadership positions.
• The Political turmoil is unlikely to directly affect the operation of the Olympics,
• In December, with a corruption scandal threatening to boil over and the economy slumping, members of the political opposition in Brazil’s legislature launched efforts to impeach President Dilma Rousseff, who won re-election for a second term in 2014.
• The Main Charges against Rousseff are that she misused federal funds to obscure the size of brazil’s deficit in violation of of federal Law.

Police and legacy impacts.

• Brazilian police rank among the world's most deadly.
• Police related deaths in the rio state rose to 580 killings in 2014 and 40 percent from 2013 an increase again to 645 in 2015
• In december the united nation accused the brazilian police force of systematically murdering poor brown kids in an effort to clean the street for the olympics
• Brazilian citizens find it hard to walk the streets
• Rio’s Olympic games, like many before them, came not just with the promise of a three-week sporting extravaganza, but also with the hope of transformed city infrastructure.
• Brazil’s failure to complete many of its planned infrastructure projects ahead of the World Cup has led to some pessimistic predictions about how well the Olympic projects will fare.

Economic impacts

• The brazil that won the olympic was a country undertaking a vast expansion of poverty and health programs.
• Unemployment has risen to nearly 11 percent and wages have plummeted.

Environment

• The A.P Analyzed the water and found out it was still polluted with diseases linked to human sewage at levels up to 1.7 million highly concerning the U.S or Europe.

• The IOC say that the water will be clear.They’ve already conceded that the  Guanabara bay won’t be clean affecting rio’s residents and the environmental efforts until the end of the olympics.

Health

• Some olympic athletes have already said they will quarantine themselves at the olympics,others have considered not going.

• Doctors initially believed the virus would have a minimal impact on the Olympics
• The government dispatched military and health professionals to cleanse Rio and its surrounding areas of mosquitoes, and promised that athletes and fans wouldn’t face much risk
• The IOC and some national Olympic federations are already making plans to protect athletes and fans, and the WHO is taking strides to “put in place all the measures to reduce mosquito density

• with health experts still trying to formulate a full response and create a vaccine for the disease, Zika will continue to pose a threat to Brazilians.

I am learning to relate the 3 key olympic values to an olympic athlete and describe how they show them.

Today for our olympic learning we had to create individual olympic DLO's showing the 3 main olympic

the olympic athlete i choose was Kyrie irving because he is not oly competing in the 2016 olympic for USA but he is my inspiration to why I play basketball. I think kyrie irving shows all these values and my DLO tells you why I think that.

Information report

Kyrie Irving is a 24 year old NBA player who is currently competing in the USA NBA team in the olympics. Kyrie irving is know to be one of the youngest NBA players ever. His team has currently won their first game against china.

Sport competing

Kyrie irving’s official team in the NBA is the cleveland cavaliers and is representing the USA basketball team in the NBA sport at the 2016 rio olympic games alongside other basketball players from different teams like golden state warriors,OKC,Sacramento Kings ETC... Kyrie irving was drafted in the NBA 2011 drafts and was the 1st pick for the cleveland cavs.

Skills and Injuries.

Kyrie irving’s first game was against the Detroit Pistons where he scored 16 points In the 3rd quarter,he got three lay ups,2 three pointers and 1 free shot. Kyrie irving is known to be the best dribbler in the nba association. He has had one knee injury due to landing on it awkwardly. He had to wait for 4 months until he could play basketball again. He is feeling better now and is competing in the olympics for the usa basketball team.

Achievements

Kyrie irving has won the rookie of the year award in 2012, Most Valuable Player Award in the all stars game in 2014. People think that he may now be as good as stephen curry and is not far away with his achievement stats.

He chose one goal and that was to work hard and play basketball and he has achieved his goal.

Kyrie irving is the type of NBA player who works hard to get where he is and tries his best to achieve his goals. Because of all the hard work he puts into his NBA career and has made it to the olympics.He is an inspiration to young people.  

Our Group Article review

WALT use Bloom's Taxonomy skills to complete a news article we read.

Today I completed a Bloom's Taxonomy task in a group of 4.
My group and I worked together by allocating ourselves to different slides to get the presentation complete.
We used the skills of Remembering,Understanding the text,Skimming and scanning,Re reading and communicating with each other to agree on the information we were putting on our work.
Next time we will work on completing the task throughout the rest of the week.

For the first slide we had to use a variety of skills to complete the first remembering slide. For the remembering slide we had to answer 4 different questions with deeper critical thinking skills.

For the second Slide we had to use our skills of understanding the text so we had to identify 5 key words and had to list down our understandings with evidence in the article.

The last slide we completed was the applying slide were we had to use our reading skills to ask and answer questions related to the article we read and had to add in a summary to finish.

For this task we had to answer a variety of questions related to our culture and research or ask your family for information to answer the questions correctly.

My group which was one of the samoan groups did the task and finish to the standard expected according to my tachers.

Boxfit class

Today after school at 3:15 I had a boxfit class that goes on twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays where you go and train/practise boxing skills.
Today we learnt 30 punches of a 60 punch combo,Now it's just a matter of learning the other 30 next week

Here is the 30 we learnt
Left,Right
Left uppercut,Right uppercut
Left hook,Straight right
Double left uppercut
Straight right,left hook
Double right uppercut
Straight left,Straight right,left hook,Straight right

Duck,right body rip shot then left uppercut

T2W3 tech reflect

Today for technology I got up to the part where I was polishing my design using water and a piece of 1200 length sandpaper. Before I got to that stage I used 2 other shades of sand paper, 400 and 800 length.
Now it's just a matter of finishing the polishing before the end of the metal work group next week thursday.

Today I did a reading activity based on gold mining. For this task I had to research and read the information on a few different websites t find these 7 key facts that I found interesting. After looking through 5 different websites I finally picked out these 7 facts and put it on a D.L.O. I used some websites that my friends and family told me about and was able to find more then 7 interesting facts.

So that's the 7 interesting facts I found were the most outstanding to me.

Actions using school values

WALT describe specific actions that will help us show the T.P.S school values at our school

Today I did an activity related to the T.P.S school values were we had to create a D.L.O showing information about ways to show actions in our school and to make sentences related to them.
This D.L.O shows all the information and sentences that my group and I came up with.
I think that these actions will help us teach the younger students to follow the school values and make relationships with each other not just a few people. I believe that is that happens then everyone in the school will like each other for who they are not for who want to be.

Confidence in a person

WALT define confidence

Today I did an activity on confidence. We had to create a D.L.O showing information and words that make up a confident person.After that we had to create a brain storm and choose 5 words that we thought made us confident and write a reflection about how it makes us confident,My 5 keywords I chose were Takes challenges,Supportive,Good listener,Growth mindset and leadership.I chose these words because they best describe me as a confident person.
Here is my reflection.
A confident person to me is someone who shows growth mindset and  takes challenges and doesn't say they can't do it. Of course a confident person has to be confident and not be afraid, they can be nervous and all but they still take the challenge to perform or say a speech in front of a large crowd. A confident person is also someone who shows leadership in everything they do and doesn't blame things on other people,also encourages others to be show respect not be disrespectful. This leads us into being supportive. 1 thing I like the most about a confident person is that they encourage and persuade others to present or perform.

So thats what a confident person to me looks like whem i'm using those 5 words.

Identifying My Strengths

I am learning to identify and describe my strengths

Today for inquiry I created a D.L.O that defines what my strengths are and how I show them.

Before starting this task we created a paddle that helps explain one specific strength that you think you show the most.

Doing this task has helped me explain how I show my strengths and how to work on showing my other strengths.

One thing I have learnt is that when your talking about your strengths your not talking about physical strength your talking about mental strength and things that you think help explain to people strengths that you think you have.
